Anthony Kiedis – SEE

Analysis of the personality type of Anthony Kiedis based on his interview in the group of Socionics International Journal on Facebok.

Interview
In the first interview which is not overly informative I would agree that he talks a lot about sensing and I would say both of them Si + Se: How much physical strength you need to have for the show, how it is physically demanding and involves physical exercise combined with the right food.
He also talks confidently and a lot about the relationships and people . He mentions that relationship is maintained because his band members let emotions out and get over it. IEIs and EIEs can actually stuck with their emotions for a longer period of time. I would say it is a point against Fe in Ego block of model A.

Another interesting trait to note that he says that everyone has a strong personality, standing for themselves, including him. While describing his partner in a band he projected on himself this personality quality – this what I believe has happened – he can be at times selfish and at times very generous and caring, contrasting personality. We can compare it to childish Id -types behaviour which do not comply with the norms of social behaviour as to always follow the rule.

Anthony Kiedis Interview (2004)The first comment which caught my attention is that some band did rehearsal in a “strange, new and perfectionist way”, which “freaked us out”. Perfectionism (Ti) and something new (Ne) in their working experience made a huge impression to the degree that they freaked out (became kind of worried, concerned).

It can be VF (vulnerable function of Ti together with Ne in the block of model A (new approach, unexpected). For IEE (or  for the intuitive types in general) something new should not be freaking but exciting and interesting. 3.3

Wow, to pay respect to the professionalism of the band the Kiedis with his friends decided to go naked on their stage and got opposite respond from the band – they actually ruined the show of the band they respected so much. Kiedis was yelled by the leading singer in a strict voice. Basically he was told off and made some one furious about such act of behaviour on stage.
Se – versus Ti, Id energy of a child versus strict rules of the parent energy Superego? We can have a look later into the band Kiedis is talking about…but this comes to my mind as a clash of Id and Superego or at least irrationality versus rationality. Have a look how Kiedis uses his hands in support of what he is saying: “and I got smaller, and smaller and smaller”. He actually shows it  with his fingers as if he wants you to see the exact size – this is the marker of sensing and visual, concrete details preferences in the description. Se types with weak intuition do not have as much words as NTs and NFs to create an exciting image with words. They use hands instead. I cant say about all sensing types but noticed that SEEs do it a lot – show the size with their hands and in general use their hands to support their speech. It can be  also referred to the lack of emotional expressiveness and not just the luck of intuition. Referring to size of the object Se types describe they use often their hands 5.50

Further in the video he talks about “it was an unexpected process ….and we tried them and some of them just did not suite us….and we started to play more predictable songs….when we tried it just for fun it really felt” 12.20

It seems to me that he prefers learning by going through experience and choosing what is known as working. This is a sensing preference once again.
22.50 Kiedis compares American fans with an animal (power) and powerful machine in relation to liking everything new in music and not necessarily what is really good. Another marker against intuition.
At the end of the video he talks about sad moments of Jonny dying and he talks with a lot smiles, I would say in a cheerful manner – something which may suit more to Id-types rather than any other TPE.
12.08 – I think he talks from his Superego block of model A (Ti+Ne) aiming at perfectionism Ti but in his own words it came out as very simple, concrete and graphic: I work my ass of….because I had to reach the level of acceptability”. Uses his hand again to show the level of acceptability instead explaining what it is and defining this level in words. Marker for sensing.
He talks a lot about the people and feelings very informatively, providing lots of details, explaining how he feels about people and events. It does not look like Fe stronger than Fi but quite on the opposite.
It is also interesting how he described “that day” 15.30 There is no emotions as such but he wants us to feel how true it felt for him and everyone that moment, how energy was right in showing the essence of the band ; how much was channeled – love, skill and how convincing it was. I believe it is Se expressed in words  – how grand was the feeling of that moment experience in transmission the essence of the band – as  true feeling and true experience of the moment. This can be interpreted as a marker for here and now sensing experience preference. Realism and the moment of truth could also been referred to Ti in judgement evaluation. Ne can be related to the meaning of essence of the band as a key point to be conveyed in music.   Kiedis is trying to make us feel what he felt exactly because he liked it so much. He is not getting overly emotional but we feel excitation and power of the moment when we listen to him.

So, I would agree with Joel and type SEE for Anthony Kiedis. Other suggestions like IEE come very close and I understand that some may see Kiedis as IEI as well because his image somehow reminds of IEI.

With VD (visual diagnostics)  we know that people visually can take similarity with both parents and if they happen to be duals we need to be very careful in diagnostics. There are cases when people inherit facial features from one parent and the type from another parent. This is why we have to go deeper and check the type out to be certain. (Not always possible with celebs and depends no how informative is the interview. )
